WorldCougar that closed Oregon's Cannon Beach moves on

A catamount that climbed onto a towering gemstone off the seacoast of northwest Oregon over the weekend — presumably in hunt of feathered prey has abandoned the craggy conformation, allowing for the popular Cannon Beach to renew to callers Monday. Multiple agencies and associations, from original and state police to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the premises and Recreation Department, responded to Sunday morning’s sighting of the big cat on the iconic Haystack Rock. The sand was closed to cover people and let it return to its usual niche. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said officers latterly verified that the beast had moved on. A game camera captured an image of it leaving the gemstone Sunday night, and tracks were also set up heading down, civil officers said. State biologists believe the catamount ventured to Haystack Rock at low drift Saturday night to hunt catcalls, a guest.
they’ve not preliminarily witnessed at that point. “While the forested areas along the seacoast are high niche for panthers, it’s unusual that a catamount made its way on to Haystack Rock,” Paul Atwood, a biologist with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, said in a statement. “Their primary food source is deer, but they will also consume elk, other mammals and catcalls.” still, panthers have been proved traveling to other analogous small coastal islets in Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service prophet Megan Nagel said via dispatch. Haystack Rock, defended as part of the Oregon islets National Wildlife Refuge and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is abundant with seabirds and ocean life in the summer. From March through September, tufted puffins, common murres, chump guillemot and black oystercatcher raise their youthful on the conformation. Part of the gemstone is unrestricted time- round to all public use to cover nesting and roosting catcalls.
